Gone are the days when football was all about men, when only they filled the fields, especially in the championship finals. The female audience only grows, whether in the stands or even on the pitch. Following this trend, the SINOBRAS Women’s Football Team was created eight months ago. Formed mostly by collaborators, the group also has the participation of dependents, close family members and some guests.
Even though they have not yet participated in major championships, the team was runner-up to the Simetal Labor Day Tournament, held in May, and trains every week, always on Thursdays and Saturdays at Bola Cheia, in Cidade Nova. .
According to Elzio Alves, a Siderúrgica employee and president of the SINOBRAS Collaborators Association – ACSI, the team arose from the desire of some collaborators, motivated by the small number of sports activities aimed at this audience. “ACSI decided to invest and encourage all women who like to play sports. I myself have always enjoyed sports, my wife loves to play football, and that’s why she is also one of the players on the SINOBRAS team, ”says Elzio.
For Ildeny Marques, a plant collaborator and one of the team’s players, the formation of a female team is important because it shows that SINOBRAS has women who play football and also provides interaction between colleagues helping to develop talents. “The incentive that SINOBRAS gives to sport is reflected in the performance and results of the employee in the company. It also reflects well-being and health inside and outside the company, because sport is health, ”he says.
