SINOBRAS participates in the 1st Municipal Water Week

To discuss the importance of water preservation, on the occasion of World Water Day, celebrated last Sunday (22), the State University of Pará (UEPA), Campus Marabá, and the Metropolitan College held the 1st Municipal Water Week of Marabá under the theme “Water – quality, rational use and conservation: everyone’s right”. With the participation of academics from several courses at the two educational institutions and people from the community, the program counted on the participation of professionals from companies in the municipality, including SINOBRAS.

The coordinator of Environmental Management of the steelmaker, Junimara Chaves, gave the lecture Water Reuse in industry as a way to avoid scarcity. On the occasion, he spoke about the production process of the plant that uses water in a closed recirculation system. “The industrial sector is extremely responsible with respect to the use of water resources. At SINOBRAS, this is proven by the percentage of water reuse in its production that reaches more than 97.5% ”, he pointed out.

One of the event coordinators, Antonio Pereira Júnior, master in Environmental Sciences, stated that the event had as its central point to explain to people the multiple use of water, which ranges from industry to medicine. “The intention was to show people that water is not just for domestic use, but that it has several uses. As for the presence of SINOBRAS at this event as an industry, we wanted to show participants that it is concerned with what will happen with water not only today, but in the future ”, he said.

During the event, the themes of Marabá groundwater portability, Mining Engineering and Water Resources, collection, distribution and treatment of water in the municipality of Marabá were also discussed, as well as how to save water on dry days.
