To rescue young people and create opportunities for improvement and cultural development, the Association of Visual Artists from the South and Southeast of Pará (ARMA) uses dance as a tool against violence and social inequalities that affect Maraba’s youth on a daily basis. Last weekend the institution’s dance group, formed by young people from different neighborhoods in the city, held cultural presentations during the National Day of Social Responsibility promoted by Faculdade Unopar, in Praça Duque de Caxias, in Marabá Pioneira.
The presentations made by the students are the result of free artistic training workshops developed by the institution, through the “Arma Arte e Inclusão” project, which has the support of SINOBRAS, through the Minha Comunidade é Mais Project, with resources from the Instituto Aço Cearense The project promotes citizenship and democratization of access to cultural activities among young people in the municipality, thus providing a better quality of life for participants.
Taught by dancer and art educator Anielle Bizera, the activities cover the different aspects of Brazilian and contemporary folk dance, with well-rehearsed choreographies that are presented in cultural spaces and public schools in Marabá.
In the workshops held at ARMA, young people have contact with the universe of dance through theoretical classes on the emergence of dance and practices, when basic techniques and exercises of movements and rhythms essential for a good dancer are passed on. “Presenting everything that was tirelessly rehearsed during the course is the dream of these boys, with countless talents that, if well explored, can yield beautiful fruits in the near future. All artists like to show their work and these young people are no different ”explains professor Anielle Bizera.
Gilzane Magalhães, one of ARMA’s coordinators, says: “We have already trained hundreds of young people through dance workshops, and we have achieved great results such as improving school and family development. Our main objective is to train citizens, and there are always new talents that we try to polish and contribute to their development ”.
