SINOBRAS – Siderúrgica Norte Brasil SA, a company belonging to the Aço Cearense Group, received this Friday morning (23), the visit of the new Secretary of State for Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), José Fernando Gomes Júnior, and your entourage. Ian Corrêa, Vice President of Operations of the Group, and Clayton Labes, Sustainability Director at SINOBRAS, presented to the Secretary the expansion project of the company “SINOBRAS phase 2” and the needs for its progress.
During the meeting, Secretary José Fernando Gomes Júnior reaffirmed Governor Helder Barbalho’s commitment to the expansion of the company and was willing to help in whatever is necessary.
“The expansion of SINOBRAS is very important for us and for Pará. It will generate a peak of 600 jobs during the implementation phase and 220 direct jobs during the operation phase. We will produce new products, the CA 50 rebar in roll and wire rod, making it possible to attract new companies to the region to consume this raw material and generate more jobs and income. We were honored and very optimistic about this meeting and support, ”says Ian Corrêa, Vice President of Operations at Grupo Aço Cearense.
The SINOBRAS phase 2 expansion project, which had been halted since 2015, was resumed in October 2020. The project includes the installation of Lamination 2, with a production capacity of 500 thousand tons / year of rolled steel in coil; a new coil straightening shed; and a new 230kV substation and transmission line. As a result, SINOBRAS, which has the capacity to produce 380 thousand tons of rolled steel / year, will have a production capacity of 880 thousand tons / year.
