The 8th Race of Steel and the 3rd Walk, which took place on November 11th, were once again a success. The event mobilized a large number of people at Praça São Felix Valois, in front of the Orla de Marabá, where the sporting event started and arrived. The initiative, held annually by SINOBRAS, commemorated the company’s 12th anniversary – officially celebrated on November 6th – and the start of steel production in Pará.
The big winner of the SINOBRAS race was Jardel Vilar, from Lamination, who covered the 7 km course in 24min45sec. “I trained a lot, but I didn’t expect to win, as it’s the eighth year I’ve participated and I had never reached 1st place before. I was very happy! Now, it’s about celebrating the victory and preparing myself for next year”, said the athlete.
On the occasion, the Vice President of Operations of Grupo Aço Cearense, Ian Corrêa, welcomed those present, thanked the increasing participation of the city’s population in the event and emphasized its importance for the propagation of the culture of sports practice. Milton Lima, Industrial Director, also thanked everyone for participating.
In all, R$7,600.00 were awarded in prizes. The winners of the race, in each category, received as awards: trophy, medal and R$ 500, in addition to a kit from Café Santa Clara (first place); medal and R$350 (second place); and medal and R$250 (third place). The awards given to the two best teams – SINOBRAS and Comunidade – were a trophy and R$ 500. For the walk, there was no specific award. Participants received a participation medal, like all runners.
