Outubro Rosa raises awareness about the prevention and diagnosis of the disease, bringing information and solidarity to cancer patients. Aço Cearense, in support of the campaign, collected invoices, throughout the month, in the total amount of R$ 160 thousand and donated to CRIO – Integrated Regional Center of Oncology on November 6th.
The amount collected from the invoices will help in the maintenance of Nossa Casa (Association for Support of People with Cancer) and in CRIO (Regional Integrated Oncology Center) projects, such as Sewing Dreams, in which patients develop a sewing job, making bags, trash cans for cars and notebook holders that are sold to raise money for the support house.
For Lara Montenegro, responsible for Communication at CRIO and Nossa Casa, these donations are very important. “We have several productive sectors to maintain and these invoices will also help us, as the institution only lives with donations”, explained Lara.
In addition to donating invoices, collaborator Wany Araújo donated her hair for the project. “A Little Piece of Love Doesn’t Hurt,” she makes wigs for women with cancer who have already lost their hair. Patients who wish to wear the wigs must register with CRIO and participate in the loan bank to be able to receive their hair. After patients no longer need the wigs, they are returned to CRIO so that other patients can wear them. “It is very gratifying to know that my hair will motivate and stimulate the self-esteem of these patients who are treating cancer”, said the collaborator at Aço Cearense Filial, happy to be able to help with the project.
